- I for sure have a lot in common with my ideal avatar. Because my product is a product designed for dogs, it was hard to not base myself on some of the avatar's characteristics. For starters, we both have dogs (obviously, or else we would not need the product). Also, I made my avatars have similar qualities to me; I had them enjoy the outdoors and be more on the "natural" side. I do not think this is a coincidence because I would be a customer of my product, so I felt inclined to make my ideal customer similar to myself. I even made them so similar that they have the same colored car as me (I did not notice I did this until after the fact).

Hi Lily,
ReplyDeleteI agree that we tend to design our avatar around "who we know" as in ourselves. Afterall, it is easier to identify an opportunity that we have personally experienced. My suggestion would be to somewhat narrow down your prototypical customer by maybe thinking about how you would market this product to him/her. For example if you were targeting middle aged men, you could elaborate on the activities or the interruptions he may face by caring for a sick animal- maybe not ideal for this particular assignment but possibly for future assignments.
Hi Lily,
ReplyDeleteYour avatars are fun! You listed out specific qualities and I think your pinpointed a customer very well for the younger age bracket. The great think about your idea is that it can appeal to a wide range of people of all ages. A dog owner can be 18 or 80. I think you can further consider who your older avatar is. You could even make 3 demographics: a young person, a middle age person and an elderly person.
